It's been a while since we've seen some new Force FX lightsabers from Hasbro, but at long last a new batch has arrived in our warehouse. Let's tell you a bit about them and what models have arrived.
What is a Force FX Lightsaber?
Put simply, these are pretty realistic prop replicas of the lightsabers that you've seen in the Star Wars movies. Creating such prop replicas has always been challenging because the glow effect seen in the movies was added as a post effect which means that the actors weren't really running around with the effect you see on the movie.
Force FX lightsabers were originally created years ago by Master Replicas. That company is no more and as far as we are aware, Hasbro purchased the designs and carried on the production with slight modifications. The lightsabers feature:
- a LED light up polycarbonate blade
- a metal hilt (slightly bigger than the originals to house the electronics)
- a sound effects module which plays a variety of movie-sampled sounds
They are officially licensed by Disney and come in a nice Star Wars themed box.

At the time of writing this blog post, only one further model is due for arrival soon:
As far as we can tell, Rey's lightsaber looks to be either the same or very similar to Luke's Episode IV lightsaber.
